PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (WFLX) - What was meant to be a grand entrance for Santa at the Palm Beach Gardens Mall, went very wrong -- and very viral.
In a video posted on YouTube, you can see St. Nick rappelling down from a catwalk to the bottom floor of the mall with help from one of his elves. But before long, his fake beard is caught on the rope.
"If you guys sing nice and loud, you can help Santa come down," a woman announced to the crowd, as "horrified children watch," according to the YouTube poster MillyOlson.
To distract the audience, the announcer belted out "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." But it was too late, Santa's beard, wig and hat were torn completely off.
Santa dangled and bounced for a few more minutes before he was able to break free and make it to the floor below.
While no one was hurt during the making of this Christmas miracle, we can't say the same for the potential emotional damage that was caused.
