Bishop denies misuse of WPB church funds

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Embattled West Palm Beach minister Bishop Harold Ray will hold a press conference Wednesday morning at 8:45 at Redemptive Life Fellowship Church with his attorney, Willie Gary, to defend himself against allegations he misused millions of tax dollars.

An investigation involving Ray, the city of West Palm Beach and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has insinuated Ray misused millions.

The city has been demanding paperwork from the church to prove federal money intended for low income homes was used properly.

The city contracted with the church group to build homes in the Coleman Park area.

City employees say companies with ties to Bishop Ray may have been given the rights to build the homes without a proper bidding process, and he may have used his own real estate company to sell the homes.

The bishop has denied any wrongdoing.
