Employee caught pawning city property

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A Boynton Beach city employee is caught on the wrong side of the law after it was discovered he was pawning city property.

According to police, David Thomas Austin, who works as a mechanic for the city's utilities department, stole power tools and a pressure washer.

Reports say Thomas took the tools to a pawn shop in Lantana where he was paid $150 for them.

Thomas is facing multiple charges including grand theft and dealing in stolen property. He has been placed on administrative leave.
