Bigger waistlines: Cruise ships taking less passengers

(WFLX) - Some large ships are now being forced to take fewer passengers.

In recent years, the US Coast Guard has determined the average weight of a passenger to be around 160 pounds.

But, health experts say, people are getting larger around the waistline. So boats are now required to determine their maximum occupancy based on an average of 185 pounds per passenger.
