Boynton toddler feared abducted, taken to Mexico

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A 3-year-old girl is believed to have been abducted and taken to Mexico this weekend by her father, according to Boynton Beach Police Department spokesperson Stephanie Slater.

Irma Velasquez, 20, the girl's mother, called police around 8 p.m. Monday to report her daughter's father had not returned the girl following his weekend visit, police said.

Feliz De La Cruz Lopez, 26, picked his daughter Jazmin Lopez up at her mother's home on Southwest First Street in Boynton Beach Saturday afternoon. Police said Lopez came back from Mexico three months ago and told Velasquez he wanted to be part of his daughter's life. Velasquez told detectives she was allowing him to take their daughter for a day or two at a time.

Velasquez said she could not reach Lopez on Saturday night and when she spoke with him Sunday, he gave excuses about why he did not answer the phone.

According to BBPD, Velasquez said Lopez then called her Monday and had their daughter say that she didn't want to live with her mother anymore.

Anyone with information about Lopez is asked to call Boynton Beach Police Detective Rayner De Los Rios at 561-742-6153, Sgt. Tom Wallace at 561-742-6126 or Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 800-458-TIPS.
