Broward man blocks first-degree murder charges

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - A Broward County man successfully used Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law to block first-degree murder charges.

A judge acquitted 54-year-old Nour Jarkas for the 2009 shooting death of his estranged wife's boyfriend, John Concannon.

The judge ruled Jarkas was an invited guest in his wife's home and felt threatened before he shot Concannon during a confrontation.

Prosecutors said they would not appeal.
