Details emerged in death of Sgt. Adam Rosenthal

DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Before he crashed his police cruiser and died, a Delray Beach Police officer was not wearing a seatbelt and traveling 25 miles over the speed limit.

These are the details emerging from the investigation into the accident that killed Sergeant Adam Rosenthal.

Rosenthal died in February when he crashed his police cruiser on Southwest 18th Street, west of Florida's Turnpike in Boca Raton.

The report into his crash was completed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office's traffic-homicide investigators.

Obtained by the Sun Sentinel, the report says Rosenthal was running late for his early morning shift on February 17 when he lost control of his cruiser.

The report indicates Rosenthal may have been distracted by his in-car computer which was turned on minutes before the accident.

After the crash, officer driver training was set in motion at the Delray Beach Police Department.

Rosenthal was a 16-year member of the force.
