WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - County commissioners are reacting to a Contact 5 investigation exposing a large amount of large salaries in Palm Beach County.
After searching through thousands of salary documents, we discovered more than 600 government workers made more than six figures last year. That's more than triple the number of some counties of similar size in Florida.
Many of those top salaries belong to the fire rescue department who are re-negotiating their contract right now with the county. "Everyone's been asked to cut back some," said County Commissioner Paulette Burdick. "I'm hoping that our bargaining units will see fit to give a little back also because what it means is it will keep more people employed."
We'll bring you any further updates to this investigation.
