Garage fire forces Boca Raton family from home on Christmas Eve

BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) - A family of five has been displaced from their home after a fire inside their garage.

The fire started at 5:20 Saturday night at the home in the 800 block of NW 7 street. According to the Boca Raton fire department two people were at home at the time of the fire. Both people were able to get out of the home safely.

A FOX 29 reporter, who arrived at the fire shortly after it started, said a propane tank inside the garage exploded and caused even more flames and smoke.

The family will not be allowed to return to their home until repairs are made. The fire department said the total of damage is estimated to be at $100,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
