Man paralyzed after WPB hotel shooting By Rachel Leigh | January 3, 2012 at 6:53 PM EST - Updated June 26 at 5:34 AM WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A drug deal gone bad may have been what led to a shooting at the Best Western hotel on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard in West Palm Beach. Police spokesperson Chase Scott said three people staying at the hotel had planned to meet up with a man to do a drug deal. Scott said the suspect instead tried to rob the people in the hotel room. When one of the victims resisted, he was shot in the neck. The bullet struck the victim's spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed, Scott told the Palm Beach Post. Police are not releasing any information about the victim, other than to say he is in critical condition at St. Mary's Medical Center. The suspect got away from the scene and is on the loose. Police blocked off part of the hotel while the investigation took place. Copyright 2012 WFLX. All Rights Reserved.
