JUPITER, FL (WFLX) — Three elderly people were killed Sunday in an accident near Interstate 95, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
According to FHP, a driver and two passengers were in the southbound lanes of I-95 between the Indiantown Road and Donald Ross Road exits when their Honda CRV drove into a grassy shoulder and crashed into a light pole around 2 p.m.
The car went down an embankment and into a canal. It was completely submerged when troopers arrived on scene.
All three were transported to the hospital and later died.
FHP reports all three were from out of state: The driver, 80-year-old Albert Koeniges from Haworth, N.J., 75-year-old Ann T. Lane from Wanaque, N.J. and 73-year-old Lore T. Brunetti from Carmel, N.Y.
FHP reports the single-vehicle accident was not alcohol-related.
