Woman accused of kidnapping newborn denied bond

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) -- The woman accused of stealing a baby in West Palm Beach on Friday was denied bond Saturday morning during her first court appearance.

Police say Latonia Alvin-Williams abducted two-week-old baby from an acquaintance.  After hours of searching the baby was found in Riviera Beach and Alvin-Williams was arrested.

Alvin-Williams' sister was in the courtroom for the first appearance and can't believe her sister would steal a baby.

"She's got kids," said Catrina Williams. "Why would she take someone's child? I was told the girl set her up. She let her take the baby, so somethings are not adding up right here."

It was the second time to three days Alvin-Williams has been in front of a judge. On Thursday, Alvin-Williams pled not guilty to fraud charges.

Investigators tell FOX 29, they are still looking into the connection between Alvin-Williams and the baby's mother.
