WPB police looking for South Florida Fair shooter

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - It was a frightening night for hundreds at the South Florida Fair on Saturday night as gunfire sent people scrambling for cover.

Palm Beach County sheriff's office said two people were shot around midnight.

Fair officials wouldn't comment on the shooting, but deputies said an altercation inside the fair triggered shooting.

"A huge flood of people just started running like wild eyed and crazy," said Bridget Shropshire, a fair employee. "People were running past us and people were hiding under the counters and there was a family sheltering their children. It was just ridiculous."

The fair stayed on locked until 1:00 Sunday morning while deputies searched for the shooter.

Both people shot suffered non-life threatening injuries.

No one has been arrested in the shooting but deputies are following up on several leads.

The fair re-opened Sunday for the final day of the two-week long event.
