LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) Lockdowns at four schools have been lifted after a shooting in the 3600 block of Kewanee Road in suburban Lake Worth.
A 16-year-old was shot in the upper torso shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, the teen was taken to Delray Medical Center where he later passed away.
The schools on lockdown were Santaluces High School, Royal Palm School, Freedom Shores Elementary and Starlight Cove Elementary. They were placed under lockdown as a precaution.
A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested for first-degree murder and is being transported to the JAC center. A Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said deputies are not looking for anyone else in connection with the shooting.
