(WFLX) - A new study finds many South Florida police officers are some of the worst speeders on the road.
The study was conducted by our news partners at the Sun-Sentinel.
After a three-month investigation, they found almost 800 officers from 12 different agencies drove at speeds up to 130 miles per hour on highways.
Many of the officers were not even on duty when it happened. The data was taken from sunpass toll records.
Since 2004, Florida officers, exceeding the speed limit, have caused at least 320 crashes and 19 deaths. Only one officer went to jail — for 60 days. Module ends: a-body-first-para
