CORAL GABLES, FL (WFLX) - President Obama is expected at the University of Miami Thursday afternoon to address rising gas prices.

It has become one of the targeted topics by Republicans hoping to square off against him this November.

Florida is experiencing gas prices at an average of 10 cents above the national average of $3.58 a gallon

President Obama will tour a program that trains University of Miami students as industrial energy-efficiency experts. The program is one of 24 across the country.

Republican presidential candidates have ramped up criticism this week of rising energy costs.

According to the White House press secretary, you won't hear a "quick fix" in President Obama's address Thursdday, but you will hear the him talk about increasing domestic oil and gas production.

His university address is expected to begin at the 2:30 p.m.

This will mark the President's 14th visit to Florida, a major battleground state for November's election.
