FORT PIERCE, FL (WFLX)- A 9-year-old Fort Pierce boy was arrested Monday after police say the child brought a knife to school.
According to police reports, the child showed a red pocket knife to students on a school bus and then brought the knife onto Chester A. Moore Elementary's school grounds, where school officials said he threatened to cut his siblings.
Police officers said they later determined the knife was given to the child by his mother's ex-boyfriend when he was six years old. The mother told police her son never touched the knife and she hid it in her bedroom dresser.
The mother also told police her son "couldn't be trusted with a sharpened pencil and definitely not a knife."
According to police reports, they boy has been disciplined at school multiple times for fighting.
The child was taken to a juvenile detention facility.
