School lockdowns are lifted after two people were shot

LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX)-  Two schools are no longer on lockdown after a man and woman were shot on South C Street in Lake Worth, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokesperson.

Lake Worth High School and Highland Elementary were temporarily placed on a "code red" lockdown as deputies searched for the shooter, according to the Palm Beach County School District.

Deputies said the suspect was seen at the Lake Worth High School campus and then exited westbound. He then traveled past I-95 to a nearby Tri-Rail station and into a mobile home park where deputies are now searching.

The shooter is being described as an African American male with dreads wearing a red or black t-shirt or hoodie with black pants. He is between 5-feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, is thin and weighs about 150 pounds. Deputies have K-9s and a helicopter looking for him. A section of Lake Worth Road has been closed.

Deputies said they know the identity of the suspected shooter, but will not release the name. They also said the shooter knows the victims and this is not a random act of violence.

Both victims have been taken to Delray Medical Center.
