2 Martin Co. resident die in separate accidents at same regatta

TAVARES, FL (WFLX) -- It was a deadly weekend at regatta in central Florida.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Joy Hill said 64-year-old Charles Woodruff of Jensen Beach and 73-year-old Dea Wisely of Sun City died Sunday.

According to authorities, Woodruff's boat ran over the top of Wisely's boat on Lake Dora and both men were ejected.

The crash was the second of the weekend. On Saturday, 53-year-old Mark Van Winkle of Stuart died when he was ejected from his boat during a race. Another woman was ejected but was rescued in the water.

The regatta typically brings 8,000 to 10,000 spectators, vendors and participants.
