"Birthday", "Divorce", "Pepperoni" Banned from NYC standardized tests

NEW YORK CITY, NY (WFLX) - The New York City Department of Education wants to ban more than 50 words from the city's standardized tests.

Some of the words include "divorce", "dinosaurs," "birthdays," "halloween" and "pepperoni."

The city says they stir up "unpleasant emotions" and wants to avoid them if the topic is controversial.

In Florida, phrases that use "hurricane" or "wildfires" are already avoided from standardized tests.
