Hospitalized 66-year-old patient not missing daily run

FORT WORTH, TX (WFLX) - A Texas man, with a need to be in motion, is keeping up his energy even during a hospital stay.

Sixty-six-year-old Bill Anderson has been running a mile a day for 35 years straight. During the course of his running streak, he's made tracks across all 50 states and even 46 different countries.

His 35 year streak almost ended on Saturday because of an emergency appendectomy. After the surgery, doctors recommended he walk several times a day. His family knew that wasn't going to do!

Luckily, because 24 hours hadn't passed since his last run, Anderson was able to hit the pavement in the hospital courtyard and, so far, has kept his running record strong.
