JUPITER, FL (WFLX) - Several Walgreens, including three in South Florida, have been served warrants by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
One of them is a distribution center in Jupiter.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the agency has been cracking down on pharmacies with unusually high sales of pain pills.
A statement from a media relations representative of Walgreens said simply, "we are working and cooperating with the DEA on this matter."
According to the Wall Street Journal The agency's action is a regulatory, not a criminal, probe.
Wink.com reported that DEA agents served a routine administrative warrant at the Walgreens located on Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers on Wednesday morning.
