Space Shuttle Discovery ready for retirement

KENNEDY SPACE SHUTTLE, FL (WFLX) -- The Space Shuttle Discovery has been officially retired, but it's being prepped for one last flight to the Smithsonian.

Discovery rolled out of its hanger at the Kennedy Space Center on Saturday morning.

It will be placed on top of a modified Boeing 747 Jetliner, which will deliver the shuttle to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

Before the landing, the plane will make a low pass over DC, flying just 1,500 feet over the National Mall, allowing those in the Capitol to see Discovery in the sky one last time.
