Life of a Condiment

(WFLX)-   How long do you keep ketchup and mayonnaise in your refrigerator before throwing them out?

According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service, you can safely refrigerate certain condiments after opening them, but it's important to know that some condiments last longer than others.

Ketchup can keep for about six months... While mustard can last for a year.

As for mayonnaise and salad dressing, they're no good after two months and should be tossed out of the fridge and into the trash.

What about pickles? They are good refrigerated for just two weeks.

You can check on other foods by using the food keeper feature on the Food Marketing Institute website at fmi-dot-org.
