JENSEN BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A media specialist at Jensen Beach High School was arrested over the weekend near a Treasure Coast Park on a lewd and lascivious charge.
Port St. Lucie police say 33-year-old Robert Mark Van Wagner approached three girls in their early teens at Sportsmans Park Saturday. He asked them to put on socks he was carrying, run around the field, and then return them to him.
Van Wagner claimed this was for a school project. The girls refused, so Van Wagner left the socks behind.
When he was stopped by police, he had a different story. "And it was not for a science project, but for a fetish that he has, and he has had this fetish for quite some time," said Tom Nichols, Port St. Lucie Police Department. "In fact, people have told him to get help and he has failed to get help."
The Martin County School District has removed Van Wagner from school and reassigned him to his home pending the outcome of the investigation.
