Goodman judge gets anonymous letter about the case

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) -- Just one day after Judge Jeffrey Colbath called jurors in the John Goodman case back into the courtroom to answer allegations of misconduct, there is new information about a letter sent to the judge.

The anonymous 11 page letter details examples of jury misconduct. It cites case law and examines some of the issues raised by defense attorneys, such as whether a verdict should be set aside if there's proof of impropriety by jurors and the line that has to be crossed before a judge can order a new trial.

"The big question is why," said Michelle Suskauer, Fox 29 legal analyst. "Why didn't someone sign their name? Why did they feel it was important enough to get this information out."

The letter was signed by "John or Jane Doe."

An answer from the judge as to whether there was misconduct could come as early as Friday.

Goodman will be sentenced for DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide on May 11.
