Seven Palm Beach Central students arrested

SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Seven Palm Beach Central High School students were arrested Thursday, charged with the delivery of narcotics to undercover police officers posing as students, according to Palm Beach County School District spokeswoman Vickie Middlebrooks.

The students – four juveniles and three adults – were arrested as part of the undercover effort  "Operation D-," a three-month operation through the Palm Beach County School District Police Department along with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office.

"We will continue to take the necessary action to maintain the school board's goal of providing a safe and nurturing school environment that is free of drugs, alcohol, firearms and harassment, and where standards of appropriate and ethical behavior are upheld," School Police Chief James Kelly said in a written statement.

More arrests are expected, according to school police.

According to Middlebrooks, investigations like "Operation D-" have led to more than 100 arrests throughout Palm Beach County.

Middlebrooks said the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office assisted in "Operation D-," and will help identify the source of illegal narcotics being sold at the school.

The seven students will be charged with delivery of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, a felony.
