Residents forced to evacuate after Condo fire

SINGER ISLAND, FL (WFLX) -- A fire at a Singer Island high rise is being blamed on a dishwasher.

Fire Rescue officials said the blaze started in a 12th floor unit of the Aqarius Condominiums, located in the 5400 block of North Ocean Boulevard.

When fire crews arrived, heavy smoke was found on the floor.  Residents were forced from their home and into the parking lot.

"I heard some yelling outside so I kinda went outside and onto the balcony," said Elisa Greco. "I was looking out over the parking lot and I saw the entire place was full of fire trucks and policemen and I saw policemen saying, 'Come down! Come down!' I went inside and I was like, Christina we got to go."

No one was in the condo at the time of the fire.

A family from another condo was displaced, but is being helped by the Red Cross.
