JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Skylar Laine is back home in Mississippi.
The American Idol contestant flew in to the Jackson Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport Wednesday morning.
She was greeted by a crowd of supporters who'd been watching her performances each week.
The 18-year-old Brandon native was eliminated from the show last week, but not before capturing the attention of fans across the country.
"Being on American Idol is incredible you know we get more publicity than someone that's been trying to get in the business for 20 years you can't ask for that they're great they know exactly what kind of artist I want to be and they didn't try to change it at all so I had an amazing experience and I think fifth place is pretty good," Laine told WLBT News.
Laine is scheduled to sing the National Anthem and throw out the first pitch before the Mississippi Braves game Thursday at Trustmark Park.
