Path cleared for Goodman's release

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - After an early-morning hearing at the Palm Beach County Courthouse, it now appears everything is in order for John Goodman's release from jail.

Judge Jeffrey Colbath called attorneys back into the courtroom Wednesday morning to clarify the conditions of his release.

Goodman, as you know, must first post that $7 mllion bail. He will then be on house arrest, have GPS monitoring and 24-hour security. He will also be subject to random drug and alcohol tests.

The judge wanted to clarify two things: the specifics of his security detail and the specifics of his house arrest.

Under terms of the bond, Goodman will return to his home at the polo club and will not be allowed to leave. He must line up off-duty police to monitor him around the clock and he will not be allowed to socialize with club patrons.

The twist to this involves Goodman's girlfriend, Heather Hutchins. Goodman adopted Hutchins last year to gain more control over his two young children's roughly $300 million trust. If a Delaware court recognizes the adoption and allows Hutchins to receive money she could share with Goodman, his bond would be revoked immediately.

Goodman can be released at any time as he appeals the 16-year sentence Judge Colbath handed him Friday. This comes after being convicted of DUI manslaughter in connection with the death of Scott Wilson.
