Shelter cat nursing 9 kittens and 1 puppy

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Oftentimes, puppies and kittens are dropped off at the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League when they're just days old.

The shelter then depends on an army of foster parents who will care for them until they're ready for adoption.

One foster parent has one cool cat! "She came to us actually with these three little pumpkins, and someone was supposed to come in with another mom and six babies," said Niki Gottesman with the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. "They spooked the mom when they tried to catch them, and only came to us with the babies. She accepted these six little babies. Then yesterday [Tuesday], someone dropped off a 5-day old puppy. So I said, 'Let me see if mom would like to take care of the puppy'. And she actually did let the puppy nurse on her."

May is Foster Appreciation Month, and if you're interested in becoming a foster parent, you can visit the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League's Web site
