Man shot by PBSO deputy dies in hospital

LOXAHATCHEE, FL (WFLX)- A man is dead Thursday morning after being shot by a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputy, according to PBSO spokesperson Teri Barbera.

Seth Adams, 24, was shot by the deputy near the One Stop Garden Shop on 1950 A Road and Okeechobee Boulevard in Loxahatchee and was later pronounced dead at St. Mary's Medical Center this morning.

According to Barbera, an on-duty sheriff's deputy came across Adams just before midnight Wednesday and they got into a fight. At some point, PBSO reports the deputy "feared for life" and shot Adams in his waist.

At 2:30 this morning, Adams was rushed into surgery. He was later pronounced dead, according to Barbera.

Investigators towed a blue pickup truck from the shooting scene at 4:45 a.m. and sheriff's office officials say they are in the preliminary stages of investigating the incident.

The deputy was placed on paid administrative leave this morning.
