Vigil held for man shot by sheriff deputy

LOXAHATCHEE GROVES, FL (WFLX) - It was an emotional night as crowds gathered at the scene of where an unarmed man was shot and killed by a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy.

Sheriff Ric Bradshaw insists it was 24-year-old Seth Adams who was attacked his deputy, Michael Custer, forcing Custer to fire shots.

Sunday night, many who gathered at A One Stop Garden Shop disagreed with the account by Bradshaw saying they can't image a person like Adams threatening a deputy.

Friends and family said they are hoping the turnout of hundreds of people at the vigil sends a message about how many people care. "A senseless tragedy like this cannot not only go unrecognized, but it's unjust, there has to be an answer for it," said Tim Bumgardner, the Adams' family pastor.

Many people at the vigil are calling for more information about the shooting and want a fair investigation.

The state attorney will decide if the shooting was justified.
