Shot cab driver dies

SUBURBAN LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) - A cab driver has died after being shot Sunday night.

UPDATE: The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says shooting victim Madsen Paul passed away early Tuesday morning.  

Charges will be upgraded against the two men arrested in connection with the shooting.

A cab driver is in the hospital after being shot while driving two men around Lake Worth Sunday night.

Investigators say Brian Javon Brown and Christian Carl Eberhardt shot the cabbie during a robbery. It happened around 3 p.m. near the intersection of 441 and 50th Street South.

Brown and Eberhardt were arrested after being caught by a K9 unit a half mile from where the shooting happened. "We got a hardworking individual trying to provide for his family driving a cab," said Richard McAfee with Palm Beach County Sheriff's office. "You always hear the studies it's one of the more dangerous jobs in America. Apparently he picked up a fair and along the line and for whatever reason they decided to rob him and subsequently shot him."

The cab driver was flown to Delray Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

Investigators have not determined if this shooting is related to the homicide of another cab driver in downtown West Palm Beach. Eliphete Simeon was shot and killed the night of May 4, 2012. So far no arrests have been made in the killing.
