BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Traffic was temporarily backed up Tuesday morning on Interstate 95 in Boynton
Beach after an accident involving an on-duty Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
deputy.
The male deputy was conducting a traffic stop in an unmarked vehicle when he
was rear ended in the southbound lanes of the interstate near Woolbright Road
according to sheriff's office spokesperson Teri Barbera.
The deputy, who is part of an Aggressive Driving Unit that patrols high
volume traffic areas, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The other vehicle
involved, a pickup truck, overturned. The condition of its driver is unknown.
Both drivers were taken to local hospitals.
The crash was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and was blocking a left HOV
lane, according to Florida's Department of Transportation.
