Deputy injured in shooting, 2 people dead

SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) -  A deputy and a K-9 dog have been injured in a shooting in suburban West Palm Beach that left a suspect and a female victim dead, according to Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for Palm Beach County Sheriff's Offfice.

The shooting happened around 7 p.m. in Casa del Monte trailer park at the corner of Jog Road and Forest Hill Boulevard.

According to PBSO, a man shot and killed a woman and them shot at a deputy and a K-9 dog before being shot dead by a deputy.

"This is a dangerous job. We are a busy, busy agency with more than a million calls for service. That's why when people say, 'Should the deputy have done this?' and second guess him, you have got to be there. This is prime example of how dangerous this job is, when you go out here on these calls," said Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.

The deputy, a 26 year veteran, was taken to Wellington Regional Medical Center, where doctors were able to remove the bullet during surgery. He is expected to survive the shooting.

The K-9 dog is undergoing surgery at Pet Emergency & Referral Service on Northlake Boulevard. He also is expected to survive, Barbera said.

Three officers are on paid administrative leave, according to Sheriff Bradshaw.
