PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (WFLX) - At age 17, Aston Richards was on track for a bright future. He was on the honor roll as well as his high school football team.
Unfortunately, his path won't lead him to the NFL. "I was diagnosed with bone cancer in my left knee."
Eric and Curletha Campbell watched as their once healthy son fought for his life. "I was a basket case," recalled Curletha. "I didn't know if I was coming or going."
The Campbell family wasn't only emotionally drained. "Financially, we couldn't afford the things we were doing," said Eric Campbell.
"I was actually renting some kitchen furniture, and I was trying to furnish my home," said Curletha. "But going to the doctor and taking Aston to his visits, I missed a lot of work, so couldn't really pay the bills. So I actually had to send it back."
The family received some used furniture from Quantum House, but they still needed additional items, so Quantum House nominated them to receive a furniture makeover from El Dorado Furniture!
"Your story has moved me and El Dorado, and we would like to congratulate you with receiving some help from El Dorado for furnishing your home," said Rachel Leigh.
Carmen Crucet, El Dorado's head designer, went right to work taking measurements of the Campbell home. She has no time to waste because El Dorado is providing a furniture makeover for 45 families to celebrate their 45 years in South Florida.
