Child battling cancer has big surprise waiting at home

RIVIERA BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Seven years, that's how many years 13-year-old Joshua Jackson has been receiving treatment for T-cell lymphoma.

"He's getting a bone marrow transplant right now, so we can see if we can prevent it from coming back," said single mom Ticey Anderson.

Ticey is confined to Riviera Beach as her son, Joshua, receives treatment in Miami. "I want to be there with him, but I have two other children, and they can't be on the floor or be around him."

As head of her household, purchasing something as simple as a dresser or bed rails have become luxury items Ticey simply can't afford.

"To know that the struggles they face are just the everyday struggles that can be overwhelming -- to get food on the table," said Robbie Journey with Quantum House.

Journey brought Ticey's situation to the attention of El Dorado Furniture. "Congratulations, you've won!" exclaimed Rachel Leigh.

In celebration of 45 years in the South Florida community, El Dorado is giving 45 needy families a furniture makeover. "I guess everyone needs to be reminded of what a generous community we live in," Journey said.

So when Joshua does return home, he'll have all new furniture thanks to El Dorado.
