WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Last year, Begel St. Juste found himself in a seemingly hopeless situation – homeless, unemployed and the sole provider of two small children.
Begel, who goes by BeBe, wanting to provide a better life for his kids, sought the support of Family Promise, a program which provides homeless families lodging as they find work. "I now work for a company by the name of Green Electric."
Things are turning around for Bebe and his sons, 7-year-old Brian and 6-year-old Brandon. "I basically just got into my own place," he stated proudly.
But Bebe's paycheck doesn't allot for him to purchase items to furnish his home. "A lot of the stuff was basically giving to me or borrowed to me."
So when El Dorado Furniture heard about his situation, they wanted to help. "I would say, in my kitchen, my table is actually borrowed from my mom. I was thinking, I'd probably need a stand or something for my microwave 'cause it kind of takes up most of the table."
Bebe showed El Dorado Furniture representatives around his apartment sharing what would be nice to have for his kids. "I'd say they probably need little dressers, 'cause they really don't have much dresser room. I've got clothes stacked in little spots and some in my drawers."
The boys' mattresses are used, as well. "What if I told you your kids could have the experience of going to El Dorado and picking out some furniture of their own?" asked one of the El Dorado Furniture representatives.
"That would be awesome!" Bebe responded.
Well, Bebe and his two sons are going to be able to do just that as El Dorado Furniture selected them as one of their 45 families they're giving furniture makeovers to in celebration of their 45th anniversary.
