Fireworks: You can buy, but you can't use

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - You could be breaking the law this Fourth of July without even realizing it.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is warning consumers about using illegal fireworks.

Chances are you can purchase illegal fireworks by signing a waiver; however, unless you have a permit, it is against the law to set them off.

The state's fire marshal says a good rule of thumb is if it explodes or launches, it's likely illegal.

The state has a long list of what it calls "approved sparklers" that are okay to use.

If the item is not on this list, it is against the law to use, even if you sign a waiver when you purchase it.
