PSL picks new police chief

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (WFLX) -- After months of searching Port St. Lucie officially has a new police chief.

Acting Chief John Bolduc was unanimously voted in by the city council at Monday night's meeting.

His approval was met with a rare standing ovation from the packed house.

City Manager Greg Oravec praised Bolduc as he submitted his contact for approval, "he is hard-working and resourceful."

He meets challenges with an indomitable character," said City Manager Greg Oravec.

When Chief Bolduc accepted his unanimously-approved position, he said he had a negative initial reaction when he learned top choice Craig Novick, Township Manager of Franklin, New Jersey, had backed out again.

"All I could think of was we were going to have to do it all over again," said Bolduc.

Bolduc said he hopes to instill a sense of pride in the Port St. Lucie Police Department.
