How to spend $320 million in your lifetime

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - What would you do if you found out you have won the Powerball? How could one person possibly spend all that money?

Associate Professor of Mathematics Gary Mazza is using the $320 million pot as a math lesson. "You'll take care of your family forever," he said.

The government will take a giant slice. Mazza's advice -- take the rest to the bank. "If you just found a four percent investment, you'd get over $8 million a year."

You, of course, could instead just spend it all on some hot new toys. "This is the new Fisker Karma. It's an all-electric luxury sedan," said Ryan Moore, the brand manager at Palm Beach Motor Cars.

The car gets 150 to 200 miles to the gallon plus a nice federal tax credit for being green. "These will start at $104,850 and go up to about $112,000.

Of course, you can put in some serious work on Worth Avenue. How about 33 of these red mython Michael Kors handbags -- each week?

"You could raise 350 U.S. children a year at $12,000 per year," said Professor Mazza. "It would be a noisy house."

The odds of winning: One in 175 million. This math professor professes he doesn't play. "It doesn't make sense to play the game from a money standpoint."

You could work for the money, but you'd have to make $3,200 an hour at a 40 hour a week job for 50 years. "There's not too many of those jobs around," said the professor.

So, is it a game for the mathematically challenged? Even Mazza admits somebody will win. "You would have more money than you ever dreamed, what would you do?" he asked.

Mazza worked it out, after taxes, if you actually wanted to spend all of your winnings, you'd have to spend $80,000 a week every week for the next 50 years.
