DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Three people were arrested Thursday morning after
officers responded to reports of a man's dead body on the side of a road
in Delray Beach.
Delray officers discovered the body of Dustin
Deckard, 22, in the 1100 block of SW 10th Street shortly after receiving
a call around 12:36 a.m.
Officers also received information from
a 911 caller on a possible vehicle that was involved in the incident,
according to Delray police spokesperson Nicole Guerriero.
Later in the morning, Boynton Beach police officers saw the suspected vehicle traveling on Congress Avenue.
After
an investigation by detectives, the car's occupants -- Colson Sherman,
22, Kevin Sammiel, 27, and Thomas Byrd, 22 -- were arrested and charged
with first degree murder.
According to Guerriero, Delray Beach police detectives determined that Deckard was shot in the course of a robbery.
All three suspects have extensive criminal histories, Guerriero. Combined, they have 55 felony charges with only four convictions.
Detectives
say these felony charges include attempted premeditated murder,
multiple weapon possession charges, robbery with firearm and other
numerous violent crimes. This does not include the 42 misdemeanor
charges with only two convictions.
"The Delray Beach Police Department is glad to have taken these dangerous individuals off of the street," Guerriero said in a release.
