Twenty-two whales breach over Labor Day weekend

FORT PIERCE, FL (WFLX) - Veterinarians, taking care of four pilot whales that washed up on the shores of Ft. Pierce, say it may take months to move the animals to Sea World.

A director at FAU's Harbor Branch Institute says the group is still working to determine what led 22 whales to breach over the weekend.

Five of those whales originally survived; however, one died Monday.

Sea World doctors say when the surviving whales are eventually moved, they will be separated from the other animals while they recover from their illnesses.
