CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Some Charlotte - Mecklenburg school district (CMS) students were left out of seeing President Barack Obama's planned acceptance speech at Bank of America Stadium.
The president decided to move the speech from the stadium to the Time Warner Cable Arena because of the threat of bad weather.
About 110 CMS students involved in Generation Nation got a ticket to see the president for their interest in social issues. When the students found out they wouldn't see the president they were disappointed.
"To take away from student's this learning experience is just wrong." Hopewell HS student Malik Hicks said.
They were looking forward to seeing and hearing the Commander in Chief.
"This morning," said Hicks. "I woke up the first time I didn't mind waking up early to get dressed."
Also disappointed was J'Adore Bailey.
"I was extremely mad," Bailey said. "But then I had to calm down because he is going to come back."
The students did receive an email stating the president would come back before the election and speak to ticket holders.
"I'll be okay," Bailey said. "I'll still watch him on TV and feel the same way as I would have seeing him in person."
