FORT PIERCE, FL (WFLX) - A Treasure Coast school that originally canceled its homecoming has confirmed the celebration is back on.
Lincoln Park Academy administrators had originally canceled the dance, citing security concerns and behavior contract violations from previous years.
The decision outraged parents and students; some went on social media sites to vent their displeasure.
One of the original concerns that led to cancellation was lack of chaperones.
The principal made an announcement Friday that thanked the volunteers who had come forward to help chaperone the dance. The principal will be working with students to plan the event.
Homecoming will take place in December during basketball season since Lincoln Park Academy does not have a football team.
