DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Several felony drug cases are being tossed out in Delray Beach, because of police misconduct charges.
An internal affairs investigation continues into Delray Beach Officer David Chin. This, as the charges were dropped against 20 suspects in Chin's cases as a street narcotics officer.
Chin helped to lock up suspects for firearms possession, drug trafficking and assaulting a policeman; however, the state attorney's office dropped cases against suspects in 20 of those cases. This is because Chin can no longer be called to testify as a key witness.
Investigators say he tried to get charges dropped against a woman he was trying to date and lied about her as a confidential informant.
He is charged with perjury and official misconduct. Chin remains on unpaid administrative leave.
