Phony voter letters arrive in mailboxes

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - Election officials are cautioning voters to beware of phony letters asking them to verify citizenship status in order to vote.

The letter states, the voter has 15 days to prove their status or they'll be removed from the voters roll and will be ineligible to vote.

State and federal agents say the letter is a hoax, and they're trying to track the source. They say the letters are coming from Seattle, Washington with no return address.

So far, people living in 23 Florida counties have received them.

Call 877-868-3737 if you received a letter.
