JUPITER, FL (WFLX) - More than 500 FPL crews from all over the state hit the highways early Monday morning and headed north to help with restoration efforts.
Some of the crews left from FPL's headquarters in Jupiter. They will work on restoring power to thousands of people who are without service caused by Hurricane Sandy.
FPL agents say the toughest challenge will be the change in temperature. "It can be pretty rough to deal with," said Jeff David, FPL production leader. "We're used to dealing with heat, but this time, we're gonna have to deal with cold instead. And we're not used to that."
Crews will stay in South Carolina Monday night before driving to Virginia in the morning.
