Pay raises stay around 3 percent

(WFLX) - It seems a three percent raise is becoming the new norm for American workers.

According to forecasts from national compensation surveys, many U.S. employees can expect to bring home three percent more next year than they did this year. That's just over the average median pay raise of 2.7 to 2.8 percent for 2012.

Compensation analysts say pay raises remain skimpy because unemployment remains high and companies are keeping a lid on fixed costs.
